Patum Peperium Gentlemans Relish Spiced Anchovy
Patum Peperium – also known as Gentleman’s Relish – is a spiced anchovy paste that is particularly delicious when spread on hot toast. It can also be mixed with the mince meat in shepherd’s pie or melted into scrambled eggs.
First made in 1828 by a chap called John Osborne, this fishy condiment is made with a top secret recipe that only one employee at Elsenham Quality Foods (where it is currently made) is privy to!
